Fluid shite Flashcards
how much fluid should pts get in a day
Normal adult -> 3L
Old buggers -> 2L
what forumula do you to precribe maintenance fluids in kids
(total fluid in a day)
explain it too eh
Halliday-Segar formula
kid weighs at least 10kg -> x100ml
kid weighs 20kg -> x 50ml
each kg of weight above 20kg -> x20ml
if weighing more than 20kg, then it;s awlays gonna be (10x1000) + (10x50) to start things off
If they only weigh like 12kg, then it’ll be (10x1000) and (2x50)
how much maintance fluid would a kid weighing 32kg need
32kg= 10kg + 10kg + 12kg
Use halliday-segar formula
1st 10kg -> 100x 10= 1000ml
2nd 10kg -> 50 x10= 500ml
>10kg -> 20x 12= 240ml
total fluid= 1740ml
