late 1855 public meeting was held to decide what to do with money raised through public subscription - instead of FN taking as a gift fund set up to train nurses
= 1859 fund at £45,000 & a nurse’s training school was set up at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London
What did she do in old age?
- continued to campaign from her sick bed
- developed bipolar disorder & infections contracted through her war work
- 1859 she published Notes on Nursing = a manual for training nurses
