what are capital flows?
they are the movements of money for the purpose of investment, trade or business production
what are international capital flows?
this is all the money which moves between countries
what are FDI’s?
foreign direct investments which is the amount of money invested in foreign countries
what are the BRIC countries?
brazil, russia, india and china
what are the MINT countries?
mexico, indonesia, nigeria and turkey
how does aid help poorer countries?
it can be multilateral i.e. supported by the UN or EU, or bilaterally with mutual cooperation conditions applied. it can also be from NGO’s
how does migration occur?
it comes from poorer to richer countries and increases disparities as the poorer countries loose their most skilled and talented labour
what is the UK ODA?
it is the official development assistance, also known as overseas aid budget
how is the ODA used?
the 2015 strategy was to defeat poverty, tackle instability and create prosperity in developing countries
