Flips. Falls, Vaults Flashcards
Define a “Fall”.
A vehicle is traveling forward and is no longer supported by the surface.
Define a “Flip”.
a vehicle is moving sideways and there is a resistance encountered by the tire, which is sufficient to cause the vehicle to rise up and over the resistance and move through the air
Define a “Vault”.
A vault is the same as a flip, however the vehicle is moving forward and vaults end over end, unlike a flip, where the vehicle flips side over side.
Define the rate of acceleration for gravity.
The rate of acceleration would be at 32.2 fps²
Explain the physics concept of “Uniform Projectile Motion”.
It states that, an objects horizontal and vertical motion act independently of one another.
Define “Spin Analysis”
“The assessment of a vehicle that has spun out of control.”
Define “Out-Track”.
The rear wheel is outside the front tire
Explain “slip angle”.
The difference between the vehicle’s heading
vector and the vehicle’s bearing vector.
The takeoff angle can be uphill (positive), downhill (negative) or level.
True
Some basics to remember are
Air resistance is ignored
Some basics to remember are
The speed at takeoff is the same as the speed at touch down.
Some basics to remember are
Vertical and horizontal motions act independently of each other
speed of a vehicle, traveling through the air,
you will need three things
horizontal distance vertical distance takeoff angle
