Flight theories Flashcards
Flight theory 1: Classic theory
Due to the shape of the wing having a longer edge on the top, the airflow must be faster over the top of the wing compared to the bottom, therefore creating a lower pressure zone above and higher pressure zone below the wings. This difference in pressure pushes the wings up to fill in the difference in pressure, generating lift.
Flight theory 2: Lift from flow turning
Lift is generated from the turning the flor of air. By turning the flow of air the velocity changes direction, this changing velocity gives us an accelearation which heance creates the lift force. For hypersonic planes, lift can be created by deflecting the air off the bottom of the wing but less common on slower aircraft.
