Flight Management Flashcards
What does ON BAT light illuminated next the the ADIRU switch
The ADIRU is selected ON and the ground power or primary power has subsequently failed. ADIRU on Hot Battery Bus
What does the Air Data Inertial Reference System calculate
x5 answers
- Altitude
- Airspeed
- Attitude
- Heading
- Position
What can cause an ADIRU to not align
- NO position entered
- BAD position entered
- POSITION of aircraft moved
How many times will the ADIRU accept BAD position before reinitiating an alignment
Two
How often is recommended for ADIRU realignment
24 hours
What is lost when ADIRS fails and operations on SAARU
- Position
- Automatic HDG update (Must be manually inputed using compass)
Are standby instruments Altitude, Heading and Airspeed independent of ADIRU and SAARU calculations
Yes
How many DME systems
Two
How many ILS receivers
Three
How many VOR receivers
Two
Conditions for ILS auto tuning
- ILS approach has been selected to the active route
- Airplane within 50nm TopD, 150nm landing threshold or the FMC is in descent mode
How long is ILS auto tuning inhibited after takeoff
10 minutes to prevent clutter
ILS approach tuning inhibit when
- A/P engaged and either GS or LOC captured
- FD engaged and either GS or LOC captured and <500RA
- On ground LOC active HDG within 45deg groundspeed >40kts (Autoland tracking)
ILS approach inhibit disabled when
- Either TO/GA switch pushed
- A/P disengaged and both FD switched to OFF
- MCP APP mode deselected above 1500RA
What is automatic realignment of the ADIRU
If the airplane is stationary for a period of time the ADIRU resets velocity and acceleration errors to zero
How long for an ADIRU to align
6 - 15 minutes pending distance from equator (closer is faster)
Average 10 minutes
Required Navigation Performance vs Actual Navigation Performance
RNP - The navigation performance for the defined airspace operating required within the tolerance 95% of the time.
ANP - The current navigation performance of the airplane calculated to be within 95% of the time.
When is FMC in “on approach mode”
x4 answers
- the descent phase and flaps out of up
- Sequenced the first waypoint of active approach
- direct to or intercept course to active waypoint and the distance to go less than 12nm
- The MaP is active and less than 25nm to go
FOM2 11.31.32
When is FMC out of “on approach mode
x3 answers
- TO/GA selected
- The airplane lands
- A/C flies beyond the last waypoint of the approach.
FOM2 11.31.32
Maximum thrust (N1%) reduction for assumed temperature derated take off (D-TO)
25% or CLB thrust
