Flight Controls Flashcards
How do you stop a runaway stab trim?
Opposite force on the yoke.
Which has priority, electric trim or ALTN STAB TRIM?
ALTN STAB TRIM interrupts all other stab trim commands.
What do the STAB TRIM CUTOUT switches do?
The STAB TRIM CUTOUT switches remove hydraulic power from their respective modules, C and R.
At what rate does the autopilot trim the stab?
The autopilot trims the stab at 1/2 normal rate because it only uses one trim module at a time.
What will happen if you use the electric stab trim switches with and autopilot engaged?
What happens with 2 or 3 autopilots engaged?
With one autopilot engaged using the electric stab trim switches will disconnect the autopilot.
With 2 or 3 autopilots engaged nothing will happen.
When will the speed brakes extend upon landing?
With the trucks not tilted the speed brakes will deploy from the ARMED position when both thrust levers are at idle.
With the trucks not tilted the speed brakes will deploy from the DOWN position when either thrust reverser is deployed.
When do the slats move to mid range?
The slats move to mid range when the flaps are selected to 1 through 20.
If a stall is sensed with the flaps set from 1 to 20 what happens?
To help prevent a stall the slats will extend from mid range to full extend.
If you exceed the Max flap extension speed for flaps 30 what happens?
The flaps move from 30 to 25 to provide load relief. They will move back to 30 when below the Max speed.
What happens if you get either a LEADING or TRAILING EDGE light?
Either light will cause both the slats and the flaps to stop and the flap handle to become inoperative.
What type of leading edge protection does the 757 have?
Both asymmetry and disagreement protection.
What types of protection do the flaps have?
The flaps have asymmetry, disagreement and load relief protection.
What happens when you arm either the LE or TE switch?
Hydraulic pressure is removed from both slats and flaps.
Selected electrical motor is armed to operate according to ALTERNATE FLAPS SELECTOR position.
Flap handle is disabled.
Full slats will extend at flaps 20 position.
What protections do you have while using the ALTERNATE FLAP MODE?
In ALTERNATE FLAP MODE you only have slat asymmetry protection.
What does an illuminated STAB TRIM annunciator light indicate?
Stab trim is at 1/2 normal rate.
