- Jackson Brodie is visiting a small village in Yorkshire.
- Jackson is looking for the play school children. Nathan comes out. Jackson knows his mother is visiting her sister who has breast cancer and “The False Dad’, isn’t around. Figuring he’s safe, Jackson gets out of the car and casually ambles towards the children.
- Nathan’s football rolls towards him, he picks it up, luring Nathan closer. He ruffles Nathans hair.
- A woman asks if she can help. Jackson asks for directions to the nearby waterfall.
- Jackson walks to the waterfall. He withdraws a plastic bag from his pocked and drops a thin black hair into it, his job done. He walks back to his car, ready to get on a train to London and go home.
