Fitzaekerly- Therapeutic Proteins Flashcards
Name the 3 hematopoietic agents that are erythroid growth factors:
- Darbepoetin
- Erythropoetin
- Methoxy polyethylene glycol epoetin
What is the MOA of erythroid growth factors?
EPO–> RBC (kidney) via Jak/Stat
How long is the half life of EGFs?
Very short!
You have to dose 3-4x/ week IV
PARBE (every week)
Wreg (bi-weekly)
What are the therapeutic uses of EGFs?
- Anemia- chronic kidney disease
2. High risk surgery
Who should you NOT give EGFs to?
Athletes
MPEG pts given chemotherapy (will increase their risk of death)
What are the side effects of EGFs?
Thrombus
Hypertension, increased tumor growth, allergic rxns
What are the three myeloid growth factors?
Filgramostin
Pegfilgrastin
Sagramostin
Filgramostin acts on what cells?
Neutrophils (G-CSF)
Sagramostin acts on what cells?
Myeloid cells (granulocytes, eosinophils, basophils and monocytes) (GM-CSF)
What are the half lives of Peg and Fil like?
Longer
What are MGFs used for?
Cancer chemotherapy
What are the side effects of Filg and Peg?
Mild/mod bone pain; rare: allergic rxns, splenic rupture
What are the side effects of Sagramostin?
Mod/severe bone pain, fever, malaise, arthralgia, myalgia; capillary leak synd, edema, allergic rxns
What are the two megakaryocyte growth factors?
Interleukin 11
Rominplostim
What is the MOA of Mega GFs?
Increased platelet production; thrombocytopenia–> autoantibodies
