Fit/Qualitative Questions Flashcards
I see you’ve done mostly (non-finance internships). Can you discuss your quantitative skills?
Respond with specific times you had to work with numbers/logic
- Chem 3A (work through logically)
- Trading experience (if you have any by this time)
- FAU lab research (quantifying chemical effects)
- Stat 20/133 (math-heavy classes)
- UGBA 96 (personal finance)
Walk me through your thought process for (blank)
Break everything into steps and be specific about each step
- Go into Step 1, Step 2, Step 3… (thought flow)
Tell me about a time when you submitted a project or report with grammatical mistakes.
Briefly mention a careless mistake and spend most of the time discussing what you learned or how you improved. Use 2nd example to show improvement.
- Freshman fall submitted a history paper without revision as I did it last minute.
- After getting the grade, I was determined to not let something like that be the reason my grades were low as it was a fix that only needed work ethic.
- During freshman spring, I had to write a similar paper for biology, and I spent the whole previous week doing it in parts instead of doing it all in one night and my paper grade was much better.
- I learned the importance of pacing with work and how to better approach a long-term assignment
What is the most number of classes you ever took at once and how well did you do in each of them?
Point to a specific semester
- During freshman spring I took 5 classes, did a consulting project and did a data analysis project
- I made sure to motivate myself and to maximize my efficiency everyday
- Received As in 3 classes and an A- in 2 classes
How well can you multitask?
Give an example of working on multiple commitments at the same time. State that you pulled off everything successfully despite multiple demands.
- During freshman spring semester I had to juggle 5 classes, along with a consulting project with Microsoft’s financial services marketing, as well as an economic data analysis project about the Bank of England’s financial data
- Was able to earn As/A-s in all classes, played a leadership role in final deliverable for Microsoft, and was able to make data visualizations and slide deck to present economic data analysis
Have you ever worked on a project/report shown to a large number of people?
I worked on two consulting projects: one with Microsoft and one with Logitech
- Microsoft project was about improving their marketing towards financial services companies for their Azure cloud platform
- Logitech project was about improving their go-to-market strategy for products that they had in the pipeline
- Both projects required strict attention to detail and absolutely no mistakers as the clients were large tech companies and were paying for the service
