Fire Supression Flashcards
flow rate detector
notes where sprinklers are going off in building
alarm systems connection to fire department?
optional, based on building & vulnerable group of users
annunciator panel
alarm system is connected to panel. panel is located in lobby usually for immediate access by emergency responders up0on arrival
types of alarm systems
visual, audio, can design for specific/different areas of building
intercom system
can direct people & provide information
fire sprinklers
not always required, can provide 12’-15’ of coverages
standpipe
needed for access for fire department usually in stair well
wet sprinkler system
pipes filled with water. con - could freeze/burst/leak
dry sprinkler sysetm
filled with air, when tripped it will change pressure and water will rush towards area. con - slight delay
preactiviation sprinkler system
person flips switch to trigger. could be used in space with important items and don’t want to be ruined if accidentally tripped
deluge sprinkler system
not localized. all sprinklers in entire building will go off
ie - car sales space (cars will be fine & inventory will be safe)
chemical/foam sprinkler system (not water)
designed to remove oxygen. ie - server room
design consideration
will require a fire pump, usually in its own designated room. large. needs to be accessible. pumps water into space
water tanks
store water at roof, creates pressurized water in space rather than adding pumps
