What are the key components of a Fire Risk Assessment?
A FRA should:
1) Identify the fire hazards
2) Consider who may be at risk
3) Eliminate/reduce the risk where reasonably practicable
4) Implement physical fire precautions to deal with the remaining risk
5) Take special precautions where there are flammable or explosive materials
6) Record major findings of the FRA and the action taken such as training, and creating an emergency plan
7) Reviewing the findings regularly and when necessary
What methods are available to ensure the safe escape of a buildings occupants?
Article 14 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places the onus on the Responsible Person to ensure that “routes to emergency exits from premises and the exists themselves are kept clear at all times” and “must lead as directly as possible to a place of safety.”

1) Provides the minimum fire safety standards for non-domestic premises.
2) It designates a person, usually the employer or owner, as the Responsible Person.

What is the Fire Safety Act?

2) External walls (incl. balconies and cladding)
3) Common parts
4) All doors between the domestic premises and common parts
