What happens when the LH/RH ENG FIRE PUSH switch light is pushed?
- Arms both squibs on both Firex bottles are armed.
- Fuel feed SOV closes
- Bleed Air SOV closes
- Hydraulic SOV closes
- IDG is electronically disconnected, must be manually reset after pressing out the LH/RH ENG FIRE PUSH switch light.
Why does the BOTTLE 1/2 ARMED PUSH to DISCH switch light turn green?
- Applicable Firex bottle squib armed
- During test confirms operable squib operational
- Once armed, if pressed in, discharges applicable engine bottle. Once bottle is discharged light goes out.
How many fire/over heat detection loops does the CRJ-200 have?
- 2 loops for LH/RH Nacelles Zone A Fire detection
- 2 loops for LH/RH jet pipe and pylon Zone B Over Heat detection
- 2 APU compartment Fire Detection
What are the Firex bottles filled with?
Halon 1301
During the fire test, What does it mean if one loop senses a fire and one doesn’t? How will we know if this has happened?
We will know when we revive a “Fire Fail” caution message while performing the fire test. This mean one of the loops has a short in it.
What happens when the APU FIRE PUSH switch light is pressed?
- APU Firex bottle squib is armed
- APU fuel SOV close
- APU bleed air LCV closes
- APU Fire shutoff relay is energized to shut down the APU
Note that this happens automatically on the ground as well as the Firex bottle discharges automatically on the ground.
How do we activate the fire extinguisher in the LAV waist been?
We don’t. It is automatic.
How do we know there is a fire in the LAV?
- Single Chime Master Caution
- Yellow SMOKE TOILET EICAS message on ED1. Also in the LAV a smoke alarm with let out a loud high pitch stead tone. The extinguisher discharge nozzles are sealed with heat sensitive capsules that will melt from the heat of a LAV Fire discharging the halon into the trash bin.
What personal fire protection equipment do we have onboard?
- 2 halon 1301 fire extinguishers for class A,B and C
- 1 water/glycol for class A Fires only
- 3 PBE (Personal Breathing Equipment) that provide a minimum of 15 minutes of breathable oxygen
- 1 Crash Axe
- 1 Baker Bag for PED fires
