A

No. Only one compartment may be selected (FWD or AFT).

What happens, In Flight, when a cargo extinguishing button is illuminated and is pressed? What happens if the button does not illuminate?

A

The High Rate Bottle will discharge immediately, and after 1 minute the Low Rate Bottle will discharge. It requires a press to arm, then an additional press to discharge.

What happens, On The Ground, when a cargo extinguishing button is illuminated and is pressed?

A

Only the High Rate Bottle will discharge. However if you press the button again after that, it will also discharge the low rate bottle.

A

Continues for 75 minutes…allowing for a 60 minute diversion time

What happens when an APU Fire is detected? What happens when the APU Fire Extinguisher Button is pressed?

A

The top half of APU EMER STOP button illuminates, 10 seconds later the APU will auto shutdown (if on the ground). It does this by closing the fuel shutoff valve. If this doesn’t put out the fire the QRH will direct you to push the APU Fire Extinguisher Button, which discharges the halon bottle.

Will the APU Fuel SOV automatically close if a fire is detected? Will the APU Halon Bottle ever discharge automatically?

A

On the ground, yes. (after 10 seconds). It will also close if the TEST button is held for 10 seconds!

A

Smoke Detectors on ceiling of each lav and heat-sensitive extinguishers in the lav waste bins automatically discharge if a predetermined temperature is reached.

Master warning light illuminates. “EICAS LAV SMOKE” is displayed. Alarm and smoke detector light goes off in lav. Flashing orange light on FA panel.

A

All fire buttons/handles light red. Master Warning light illuminates. Tripple chime aural warnings sound. 5 EICAS FIRE messages appear. “FIRE” in both ITT gauges.
