What must you do before you use an FX in an emergency?
A test squirt

Approx 15 seconds
What are the FX pre cautions?
-Not to be used as a coolent
-Harmful chemicals on lungs
-Always dampen down areas after use (excluding electrical)
-Force of FX could scatter burning debris
What should you do if possible when using a FX and why?
Where a smoke hood because it will protect lungs against harmful chemicals
Give some information on the fire gloves?
-For hot not burning items
-If handling chemicals wear vinyl gloves as they can leak through
-If they are wet you should change them as can cause scolding
How would you put on a Oxycrew?
To don it put both hands inside and stretch neck. Put on back facing front and then pull tag and tie straps
For donning look for hot spots and remove
How do you remove a Oxycrew from its container?
-Remove the metal clasp
- Take Oxycrew from box and rip read seal
-Shake out Oxycrew
-Then put it on
How long does an Oxycrew last for?
15 minutes
How do you know when an Oxycrew is running out?
It will become harder to breathe
How do you put on an Air Liquide (SH)?
-Put thumbs on orange markers and widen neck
-Put on back facing front
-Your head will trigger the paddle and oxygen flow will start
How long does an Air liquide last for?
15 minutes
How do you know an air liquide (SH) is about to run out?
Lack of noise will indicate smoke hood has run out
What are the smoke hood (SH) precautions?
-Neck seal must not be damaged
-Communication can be limited due to noise levels
-Hair can’t be poking out as it’s highly flammable
-Avoid edged jewellery and nails
Could you use an Oxycrew as a source of oxygen during a decompression?
Yes as it’s not a pressure sealed unit and it stays operational
