Provide the process for gash bag fires if a flame is present?
-discharge fx into bag
-seal bag and wait 30 seconds
-Dampen and cool down contents
-monitor for remainder of the flight
If there’s a fire in the flight deck what will you be required to do and what will happen?
-Flight deck door should be kept closed
-FC should wear oxygen masks as it’s a small space
-CC may be required to bring additional fire equipment to the flight deck
If CC is asked to bring additional fire equipment to the flight deck what should you consider?
Wearing a smoke hood
What’s the crew rest fire drill?
-2 people people should stay
-Remove PO
-Call from CCR or nearest door
-monitor area
What should you do if you notice smoke in the cabin?
-Don’t use an FX
-Inform FC
-Get damp blankets and curtains to prevent smoke from coming in from panels
What’s the lithium battery fire drill?
-First crew member at scene will shout or make PA “CC FCB *location” x2
-If flames are present get FX
-CC nearest FCB will bring it over
-Smoke hood, goggles or mask should be used
-Put out fire
-If connected to ISPS isolate electricity
-Place device inbetween pads and put in FCB
If the PED device that was on fire is stuck between seats what do you do?
-Once fire has been put out place pads and fire blanket over the device (if possible) place into FCB and monitor it for the duration of flight.
Where should you log if a fire drill has taken place?
The CDL
What should the SH be used for in a lithium battery fire?
To protect against fumes or debris
Can the fire blanket be used to protect yourself from scattering debris?
Yes
If a Lithium battery device is smoking but there’s not flames, what should you do?
If possible remove the device and follow steps for FCB
Over head locker fire drill?
-Shout for FX if
-Locate heat with back of hand
- Open the over head locker 2.5m
-Discharge the FX and close for 30 seconds
-Repeat if flames still present
-Re-open and use fire gloves to remove contents
-place in metal box and dampen
-Monitor for the rest of the flight
Seat fire drill
-Shout for FX
-Wear SH if possible
-Protect yourself
-Distinguish FX at the fire
-Once flames have gone remove seat cushion and put in metal box and dampen
Galley oven fire
-Ensure oven door is shut
-Isolate electrical supply
-Remove flammable objects from the area
-Open door with caution and check for flames
-Discharge FX on fire
-Close door for 30 seconds
-Cautiously open door
-Look for contents and cause of fire
-Check surrounding areas for signs of fire
-Monitor oven for rest of flight
