• If a fire is detected, the APU will automatically shut down and the fire extinguishing agent will be released after 7 seconds

Cargo Smoke Detection
Each compartment has independent smoke detection systems. How many detectors and their location in the compartments? Where is a fire indication located?

  • 1 (FWD) located above the door
  • 2 (AFT) located in the ceiling, one forward and one aft
  • Smoke detected in either compartments will be indicated in the flight deck on the Fire Protection Panel (FPP)

  • (1) “High Rate” fire extinguisher bottle Installed above the forward baggage compartment and is dedicated solely to it
  • (1) “Low Rate” located in the tail section of the aircraft, discharges simultaneously with the forward high rate bottle and last approx 45 minutes
  • Note: The “Low Rate” fire extinguisher bottle is shared by the forward and aft baggage compartment
