Engine Fire Detection
- DC ESS powered
- 2 fire loops in each engine
- Both loops must detect an overheat to get a fire indication unless one loop is inop
How is Engine Fire Protection powered?
-HOT BATT BUS powered (2 bottles)
How many engine fire bottles? How many shots per bottle?
2 fire bottles, 1 shot per bottle
-Both shots to one engine or one shot to each
What happens when fire handle is pulled?
- Fuel valve is closed
- Hydraulic valve is closed
- Bleed valve is closed
How long does fire handle and ITT warnings stay illuminated?
Until no indication of fire exists
APU Fire Detection
- DC ESS powered

APU EMER STOP button RED light illuminates
APU EMER STOP button………PUSH IN
When does the APU FIRE EXTINGUISHER button illuminate?
When APU EMER STOP button is pressed or one minute after alarm if no further action is taken?
When does the APU FIRE EXTINGUISHER button extinguish?
When fire is no longer detected
How is Cargo smoke detection powered?
ESS powered
How many smoke detectors do the cargo compartments have?
- FWD cargo has 3
- AFT cargo has 2
2 in in both must be in agreement in order for a FWD/AFT CARGO warning
What happens after smoke is detected in cargo compartments?
Circulation fan automatically turns off and the ventilation outflow valve closes
How many cargo compartment fire bottles?
2 (able to extinguish fire in either compartment)
Cargo smoke INDICATION in flight
Push button 1 time
-High rate bottle fires, low rate bottle arms and fires after 60 seconds
Cargo smoke INDICATION on ground
Push button 2 times
- 1st push–high rates bottle fires, low rate bottle arms
- 2nd push–low rate bottle fires
Cargo smoke, NO INDICATION in flight
Push 3 times
- 1st push, high rate bottle arms
- 2nd push, high rate bottle fires
- 3rd push, low rate bottle fires (after 60 seconds if not pushed 3rd time)
Cargo smoke, NO INDICATION on ground
Push 3 times
- 1st push, high rate bottle arms
- 2nd push, high rate bottle fires, low rate bottle arms
- 3rd push, low rate bottle fires
How long does the high rate bottle last?
1 minute
How long does the low rate bottle last?
60 minutes
Lavatory Protection
1 fire bottle in waste container
-wax plug melts at a given temperature to discharge the bottle
