25
What engine systems have fire detection and protection?
- Engines - APU - Cargo compartments - Lavatories
26
How many fire extinguishers in cockpit and cabin?
Cockpit, 1 halon Cabin, 3 halon (2 fwd, 1 aft), 1 water (aft)
27
How are the engines and APU protected from fire?
Engines, 2 halon bottles APU, 1 halon fire bottle
28
Can both engine fire bottles be used for one engine?
Yes
29
Describe engine and APU fire detection system?
8 engine pneumatic fire detectors (2 loops) per engine, 2 APU pneumatic fire detectors (2 loops)
30
What happens when an engine fire handle is pulled?
- Closes respective engine fuel SOV - Closes respective engine hydraulic SOV - Closes respective engine bleed SOV
31
What is the indication of an APU fire?
- Fire bell - Red stripe in the EMER STOP button - APU FIRE is displayed on EICAS
32
Is the APU automatically shut down if a fire is detected?
Only on the ground
33
What happens when the APU EMER STOP button is pushed after a fire has been detected?
- APU shuts off immediately (no cool down) - APU fuel SOV closes - APU FIRE EXTG button illuminates (will illuminate after one minute if fire detected and APU EMER STOP button not pushed)

No
35
How many smoke detectors in the cargo compartments?
3 detectors in FWD 2 detectors in AFT
36
What happens to the FWD cargo compartment in the event smoke is detected?
- Recirculating fan shuts off (prevents oxygen from entering the compartment) - Ventilation outflow valve closes (prevents halon from escaping into the passenger cabin)
37
How many extinguishing bottles are installed for the cargo compartments?
2 bottles for both compartments - 1 high rate - 1 low rate
38
Can one bottle be used for one compartment and the other bottle for the other compartment?
No. Only one compartment may be selected (FWD or AFT).
