BASELINE TESTING 9 MONTHS
Albert showed no fears to any of the stimulus shown to him, he also showed no upset when his blanket was pulled away from him
BASELINE TESTING LOUD SOUNDS
When loud sounds were made, Albert became progressively more upset, bursting into tears at the 3rd sound
11 MONTHS OLD
Baseline tests were run again, which concluded the same results.
Albert was calmed down after the loud noise by block play both times, and was calmed down after an emotional upset
11 MONTHS 3 DAYS
When Albert would attempt to touch the rat, the loud noise was made. Albert showed emotional distress by falling forwards and whimpering.
11 MONTHS 10 DAYS
CER ESTABLISHED
Shown rat alone, Albert withdrew hand before contact.
Sound trials was done 3 times.
Rat alone again, sharp movements where made, withdrawal, whimpering, and this reaction increased before he cried and crawled away with just the rat being alone
THAT SHOWED..
PHOBIA HAD BEEN CREATED IN 10 DAYS
11 MONTHS 15 DAYS
Rat was presented 3 times, and he showed fear every time. After each time Albert calmed down with block play.
CER was still present
GENERALISATION
Albert was shown:
RABBIT
DOG
FUR COAT
COTTON WOOL
And showed fear to all of these, CER had generalised to similar objects
11 MONTHS 20 DAYS
He was shown:
RABBIT
DOG
RAT
And same reaction of fear was shown but weaker
12 MONTHS 21 DAYS
Shown Santa Claus mask and Albert was immediately upset, then shown same stimuli as before, and was again upset.
CONCLUSION
Procedure for established CER was proven
Watson believed this was how phobias were arose by conditioning to three major emotions:
FEAR
SEX
DANGER
