Finding Limiting Reagents (3.3.3) Flashcards
What is the Limiting Reagent?
The smallest stoichiometric substance which will run out first.
• When two or more reagents are combined in a chemical reaction, one of them is the limiting reagent and will run out before the others (unless there are
stoichiometric amounts of each).
• When two or more reagents are combined in a chemical reaction, one of them is the limiting reagent and will run out before the others (unless there are
stoichiometric amounts of each).
• Determining how much product can be formed from the balanced chemical equation and the amounts of reagents available is the basis for the limiting reagent
problem in chemistry.
