25
Why is furring needed when there is a Gypsum on CMU block system?
Because furring is needed to allow for a flat surface over irregularities in the masonry as well as creating a concealed space for installation/wiring and plumbing.
26
What are the types of furring strips that are used on a Gypsum -CMU Block system?
Z-furring channel, hat shaped metal furring and adjustable furring brackets.
27
Common types of wall and partition facings?
The most common type is paint, but can include tile, stone (granite, limestone, marble and slate) as well as wood/paneling
28
How sustainable are gypsum products?
Not renewable but very plentiful but - bc it has to be mined is has some negative environmental impacts. - Gyp facing paper is made from recycled material and the waste is quite large - Air quality issues but have low emissions
29
What is the cutaway process for plaster?
Metal Lath, scratch coat, brown coat, finish coat or Gypsum lath, brown coat, and finish coat
