finish w/3rd and final coat w/ sanding

19
Q

What are the levels of finish for Drywall?

A

A

The joints have been taped

21
Q

Level 2 finish means?

A

Joints taped, tape & fasteners are covered with a compound

24
Q

What is a level 5 finish?

A

3 coat+ thin finish applied to the entire surface. The skim coat is applied

25
Q

Why is furring needed when there is a Gypsum on CMU block system?

A

Because furring is needed to allow for a flat surface over irregularities in the masonry as well as creating a concealed space for installation/wiring and plumbing.

26
Q

What are the types of furring strips that are used on a Gypsum -CMU Block system?

A

Z-furring channel, hat shaped metal furring and adjustable furring brackets.

27
Q

Common types of wall and partition facings?

A

The most common type is paint, but can include tile, stone (granite, limestone, marble and slate) as well as wood/paneling

28
Q

How sustainable are gypsum products?

A

Not renewable but very plentiful but

  • bc it has to be mined is has some negative environmental impacts.
  • Gyp facing paper is made from recycled material and the waste is quite large
  • Air quality issues but have low emissions
29
Q

What is the cutaway process for plaster?

A

Metal Lath, scratch coat, brown coat, finish coat or Gypsum lath, brown coat, and finish coat
