Final Review Deck - Lecture VI - Water and Salt Balance Flashcards
How do we gain water?
food and drink and metabolism
How do we lose water?
urine, skin lung, feces
need to know NKCC channel in apical membrane loop asceding limb of henle
AVP binds to V2
ADH causes vasoconstriction and raises CO by raising TPR
-ADH causes thirst sensation
-neurons sense hyperosmolairty and release ADH
-oxytocin same effect as ADH
-circadian rhythm adh highest at night
aldosterone more sodium potassium pumps in the basolateral membrane and more mitochondria and more sodium and potassium channel in apical membrane
angiotensinii causes adh release
urodilatin is secreted by the distal tubule and collecting duct and acts in a paracrine manner to prevent adh and sodium reabsorption
