Final Exam 2 Flashcards
1
Q
Sacromeres
A
- In skeletal muscle
- Make up myofibrils
- Z line
- Each sarcomere contains thin actin filament & thick myosin filaments
- M lines
- A band
- I band
2
Q
Z Lines
A
- They allow for attachment of the actin filaments and elastic protein called Titin
- The end of each sarcomere
3
Q
Actin & Myosin Filaments
A
- Actin attaches to the Z line
- Myosin attaches to Titin that then attaches to the Z line
4
Q
M Lines
A
- Anchor to the center of myosin
- Holds myosin together
- Absorbs shock from muscle contraction
5
Q
A Band / H Zone
A
- Section that contains the entire length of an myosin filament along with overlapping portions of the actin filament
- Dark part of striation pattern
6
Q
I Band / Z Disc
A
- The section of the sarcomere that surrounds the Z disc & contains only actin
- The light part of striation pattern
7
Q
Audio & Balance Receptors
A
Semi-Circular Canals
- In the Inner Ear
- 3 small fluid-filled structures
- Each duct has a swelling at the end called the Ampulla
Crista
- Inside the Ampulla
- Tiny Balance Receptors
8
Q
Olfactory Receptors (Smell)
A
- Inside the olfactory epithelium
- 10 million in your nose
- Around 400 different types for different odors
9
Q
Gustation Receptors (Taste)
A
- “Taste Buds”
- 5 basic taste catagoreis: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, savory
- Modified elongated epithelial cells
- Found throughout the oral cavity but most are on your tongue
10
Q
Frontal Lobe Functions
A
- Motor area
- Speech Centers
11
Q
Parietal Lobe Functions
A
- Sensory area
12
Q
Temporal Lobe Functions
A
- Auditory
- Speech Comprehension
- Smelling
13
Q
Occipital Lobe Functions
A
- Visual association
