  • Much less people in the united states are affiliated with religion and the church and more and more government intervention is taking place
  • There is conflict regarding the goals and ways in which welfare is given out, the Church may prioritize Christians over others.
  • The Church may cite freedom of religion in who may have access to their services.
  • The government might want to focus more on hitting numbers and helping a widescope of people, but it may lack the spiritual component and lack any interpersonal connection.

What are the merits and shortcomings of a relationship between Church and State

A
  • Can blur the line between Church and State (If the government is funding programs for the Church, then the Church is no longer being completely funded by donations and volunteers, which undermines the Church’s entire message.
  • Faith based welfare can increase community, trust, as well as providing holistic care and being cost efficient.
