Filters Flashcards
Filters
Removes unwanted frequency components from a signal
Signal
A function that conveys information about a phenomenon
Time Domain vs Frequency Domain
Time domain: How signal changes over time
Frequency Signal: How much of the signal lies within each given frequency
Analog Filters
Passive filters (use passive components), Active filters(Active components used). Passive components cannot use a power gain.
Digital Filters
Infinite Impulse Response (IIR): Difficult to control, can be unstable but faster
Finite Impulse Response (FIR): Always stable but slower
Low Pass
Only pass lower components
High Pass
Only pass Higher components
Band Pass
A particular frequency range
Band Stop/Notch filter
Don’t want a frequency range
