  • Audiences could start to have a negative view of the production company that made this film and could spread their opinions of this which could bring down the company’s overall reputation.
  • Impacts the reputation and make it more likely for audiences to avoid their media or boycott their company all together if they use cultural appropriation offensively whin their media.

What is cultural appropriation?

A

Cultural appropriation is the unacknowledged or inappropriate presentation of the customs, practices, ideas etc of one/ a culture or a minority group.
This can include exploitation, disrespectful acts and negatively presenting a group with the intent to harm, mock or damage their reputation.

What are the risks of cultural appropriation to minority groups?

A

The wide showing of the media product that contains cultural appropriation can reinforce these negative stereotypes of a minority into people’s perception of that specific group/culture.
The people of these minority groups could become offended and hurt by what is being shown about them.

A

Sound that exists and can be heard within both the fictional movie world and the real world that the audience can hear. A character can hear and acknowledge this.
This includes dialogue, foley and atmospherics.

A

The tone determines the way that a story is told, delivered and received
Tone can be created from the actors (by their performance) and also the actual creative decisions of the director (like mise-en-scene). It is important within a product to help deliver intended responses when situation happen on screen.
