This set entered on 7-26-14. 5.25.14.3 1. p. 391. RELATIONSHIPS WITH MORE THAN ONE CRITERION. You can assign more than ONE RULE to a RELATIONSHIP, meaning:
you already added a RELATIONSHIP between CUSTOMERS and PEOPLE that matches based on STATE, but you can make it so that ONLY people who live in the SAME CITY AND STATE show up.
- How do you create a RELATIONSHIP WITH MORE THAN ONE CRITERION?
a. Select a RELATIONSHIP LINE in the RELATIONSHIP GRAPH b. Click the EDIT RELATIONSHIP button c. In the CUSTOMER TO field list, choose CITY d. In the OTHER LEAD TO’s Field List, choose CITY (Note: OTHER LEAD TO is a table in the books example) e. Click the ADD button f. Click OK

It means that the DATA in BOTH FIELDS MUST MATCH EXACTLY.

The RELATIONSHIP LINE, as it approaches a TO, forks (or divides), creating two lines, each going to a different field.
- By looking at the EDIT RELATIONSHIP dialog box, how do you know you have a RELATIONSHIP with MORE THAN ONE CRITERION?
The box in the middle of the dialog box will show TWO RELATIONSHIPS.
- What is the proper name for a RELATIONSHIP WITH TWO CRITERIA?
MULTI-KEY RELATIONSHIP, because it USES TWO KEY FIELDS.
- What is achieved by using a MULTI KEY RELATIONSHIP?
In order for TWO records to relate, THEY MUST MEET BOTH CRITERIA: a person MUST be in the SAME CITY AND THE SAME STATE in order for the data to show up in the PORTAL.
