what do vaccinations involve?
A
injecting small amounts of dead or inactive pathogens.These carry antigens,which cause your body to produce antibodies to attack them-even when the pathogens are harmless.

the white blood cells will rapidly mass-produce antibodies to kill of the pathogen.

what are the advantages of vaccinations?
A
- has helped to control lots of communicable diseases that were once common in the uk.For example,smallpox does not occur no longer,and polio infections have fallen by 99%
- Big outbreaks of diseases(epidemics)can be prevented if a large percentage of the population are vaccinated.But if a significant amount of people aren’t vaccinated,the disease can spread quickly through them and lots of people will be ill at the same time.

what are the disadvantages of vaccinations?
A
- don’t always work-sometimes they don’t give you immunity.
* sometimes have a bad reaction to a vaccination,but are very rare.
