Field Communication Fundamentals Flashcards
What are the two modes of operation for the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS)?
SINGLE CHANNEL- The Receiver-Transmitter(RT) communicates on one frequency
FREQUENCY HOPPING- It reduces or eliminates the threat of jamming and direction-finding equipment. To use FH mode, RT must be loaded with FH data.
Data input required for FH is:
-Cold start transmission security key(TSK)
-SC frequency loaded in MAN channel
-Hopset
-lockout set,if required
-FH sync time
What are the max transmission ranges for LO, M, HI, PA
LO-200 m- 400 m
M- 400 m- 5 km
HI- 5 km - 10 km
PA- Vehicular only, 10 km- 40 km

What are the components of the SINCGARS radio?
Receiver-Transmitter(RT),Battery box, Antenna,Harness and accessory bag, headset or handset
How many way to tie down an antenna are?
4 ways: Stay-down clamp, Snap-free clamp, Stay-down clip, Snap-free clip.
How do you load frequencies in SC?
- Obtain frequency from SOI or NCS
- Set FCTN to LD
- Set MODE to SC
- Set CHAN to MAN, CUE, or desired channel where frequency is to be stored.
- Press FREQ
- Press CLR(display will show 5 lines)
- Enter the new frequency
- Press STO
- Repeat the steps above if inputing more frequencies
- Set FCTN to SQ ON
What is the purpose of the following batteries? BA5372, BA5590, BA590
BA5372-Non-rechargeable (hold-up battery)
BA5590- Non-rechargeable (Lithium) Manpack radio primary battery.
BA590- Rechargeable- radio secondary power battery.
What are the procedures to perform maintenance on the AN/PRC?
INSPECT THE EQUIPMENT
CLEAN THE EQUIPMENT
PERFORM OPERATION CHECKS
