A
- long term condition lasting 3+ months
- pain all over body

- increased sensitivity to pain
- muscle stiffness
- difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep - fatigue
- “fibro-fog” - brain fog
- headaches
- frustration, worry, low mood
- depression
- UNREFRESHING SLEEP

no cure
- lifestyle changes to reduce stress
- talking therapies eg cbt
- antidepressants

A
- unknown
- abnormal levels of chemical in brain which changes the way the CNS processes pain
- dereased seretonin
- central sensitisation of nociceptive pathway
- may have genetic link - family history more likely
- emotional distress causes it

- clinical
- americal college of rheumatology - 11/18 pressure points
- elevated levels of substance P in CSF
- increased esr/crp
- no serological markers
