Define:
A
Benign fluid-filled sacs leading to lumpy breasts

Aetiology:
A
Usually disappear after menopause - related to hormone changes

Risk factors:
A
Obesity Late onset menopause later age for first childbirth Oestrogen replacement therapy nulliparity

Symptoms:
A
Small breast lumps with irregular indistinct boarder with a mixed consistency. Not fixed
Breast pain
Tenderness
Increased lump size and tenderness just before menstruation

Signs:
A
Fluid fulled rounded lump which shows symmetrical lumpiness through both breasts
May have nipple discharge

Investigations:
A
Triple assessment
Imaging will show they cysts but cannot distinguish between cystic masses and solid ones
Diagnosis confirmed on aspiration
