Fibrinolytics Flashcards
1
Q
What drugs stimulate fibrinolysis?
A
Convert Plasminogen to plasmin:
- Streptokinase
- Recombinant human tPA
* Reteplase
* Altepase
* Tenecteplase
- Urokinase
2
Q
What is streptokinase?
A
- From streptococci
- Cleared by the liver
- Antigenic antibodies form after 4 days
- Can’t use for 1 year after dose is given
3
Q
What is altepase?
A
- Decreases mortality in MI
- Treatment of acute ischemic stroke, DVT&PE
- More active on fibrin - bound plasminogen than plasma plasminogen
- Has to be given within 6-12hrs, idealy within 1hr
4
Q
What is Tenectplase?
A
- Decreases in MI
- More active on fibrin - bound plasminogen than plasma plasminogen.
- Reteplase given within 12hrs, idealy <1hr
- Tenecteplase given within 6hrs, idealy <1hr
