What is FGM?
Procedures that alter/damage/remove FG for non-medical reasons
What are the main problems associated with FGM?
1) Issues with conception/labour
2) PTSD
3) Increased chance of infection
4) Chronic pain
5) Problems with menstruation
6) Increased need of procedures: episiotomy, c section and PPH
What are the two types of amenorrhoea?
1) No menses by 16 w/2ndary sexual characteristics/14 w/o 2SC
2) Cessation after onset of menses –> W Loss, exercise, PCOS, pregnancy
What is oligomenorrhoea?
Menses that are over 35 days apart
What is precocious puberty?
Onset of 2SC before 8 yo
What genetic disorder could show signs of poor stunted growth and delayed puberty?
Turner’s Syndrome (45X)
When does delayed puberty usually manifest?
11-15 and runs in families
