all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or other injury to the female genital organs for nonmedical reasons

follow child protection measures -agreed by UN to eliminate it in the world

What are the 3 WHO types of FGM?
A
- type I: prepuce removal only, or prepuce removal and partial or total removal of the clitoris
- type II: removal of the clitoris plus part or all of the labia minora
- type III: removal of part or all of the labia minora with the labia majora sewn together, covering the urethra and vagina and leaving a small hole for urine and mentstrual fluid
