Antipyretics
Acetaminophen
NSAIDs
Cooling blankets
Acetaminophen dose as antipyretic
PO or RS 650 mg q4-6hr
IV 650 mg q4 or 1 g q6
Maximum daily dose of 4 grams
Ibuprofen dose as antipyretic
IV 400-800 mg q6hr
Work up for nosocomial pneumonia
CXR Mini-BAL Quantitative sputum cx Blood cultures Arterial O2 saturation
Work up for catheter-related UTI
Urine cx with > 105 cfu/ml
Fever 24-48hrs post-op
Pneumonia
Aspiration
