Fertilization and Implantation Flashcards
where does fertilization take place
ampullary region of the fallopian tube.
what happens during fertilization(initially)
sperms come in contact with the zona pellucida of the ovum and induces change to prevent entry of more sperms.
function of acrosome in fetrilization
secretions help in the sperm entering the cytoplasm of the ovum.(induces second meiotic division of secondary oocyte)
what happens at the end of second meiotic division
ovum(ootid) and second polar body anf fertilization takes place to form zygote with sperm.
what happens after zygote is formed
goes to isthmus and divides mitotically.
cleavage
cell divisions as the zygote moves across the oviduct.
blastomeres
formed at the end of mitosis(2,4,8,16 daughter cells)
morula
mass of cells or embryo with 8 to 16 blastomeres.
blastocyst
formed by division of morula
trophoblast
the blastomeres in the blastocyst are arranged into an outer layer called trophoblast and inner cells attached to the trophoblast called inner cell mass.
what happens after trophoblast is formed?
the trophoblast gets attached tp the endometrium and the inner cell mass gets differentiated and becomes embedded(implantation).
