Which population are cam and pincer lesions more common?
Cam- femoral based lesion; MC in yound athletic males
Pincer- acetabular based; MC middle-age females
What are physical exam findings of FAI?
1) Impingement test: flexion, internal rotation and adduction elicit groin pain
2) decreased flexion and especially internal rotation
3) Difficulty sitting
4) Obligate external rotation as hip brought into flexion
A false profile view is used for what pathology?
FAI
Pelvis is at 65 deg to plate; assesses for anterior coverage of acetabulum on femoral head
What are treatment options for FAI?
1) hip arthroscopy
2) open surgical hip dislocation
3) PAO
4) THA
What areas are initially involved in cam and pincer lesions?
Pincer- labrum
Cam- acetabular cartilage
