Femoral and Richter's hernia Flashcards
Femoral triangle
It contains the femoral ?, femoral ?, and femoral ? - how are they ordered medial to lateral?
The femoral sheath is an ? prolongation of the ?/? fascia that passes ? to the inguinal ligament to allow the passage of the femoral artery/ vein into the femoral triangle.
The femoral ? lies at the ? extremity of the femoral sheath, and is
the site of femoral hernia.

Femoral Hernia
The bowel exits the abdominal cavity through the femoral ?, a weak point
in the anterior abdominal wall.
As the hernia ?, it can pass out of the ? opening and into the ? fascia, however the femoral canal opening is relatively ? with ? borders, thus there is a ? risk of obstruction/?

Richter’s hernia: a hernia involving only ? ? of the bowel and not the bowel ?, which can result in bowel ? and ? without causing ? or any of its warning signs. They are particularly likely in the femoral sac.
