bacterial vaginosis
a common vaginal infection characterized by the overgrowth of certain bacteria in the vagina
vulvovaginal candidiasis
fungal infection caused by Candida albicans
polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
condition where the body produces high levels of androgens (male sex hormones) that are usually present in women in small amounts.
ovarian cancer
type of cancer that starts in the ovaries
amenorrhea
primary amenorrhea: the absence of a girl’s first menstrual period by the age of 16.
secondary amenorrhea: the absence of a menstrual period in women who have previously had regular cycles.
endometriosis
disease in which tissue similiar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus
menopause
the time that ends menstrual cycles (usually by the age 40 to 50)
cervical cancer
growth of abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix
salpingitis
inflammation of the fallopian tubes
female infertility
the inability of a female to get pregnant or carry a pregnancy to term
ectopic pregnancy
when a fertilized egg starts growing outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes
gestational diabetes mellitus
diabetes that develops during pregnancy causing high blood sugar levels
hyperemesis gravidarum
severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that lead to dehydration and weight loss
