female repro anatomy Flashcards
func and struc of uterus
struc - endometrium( submucosa and mucosa , secretions provide environment for early embryo development ) ,myometrium( muscle longitudinal and circular - parturition and movement of sperm ) , serosa ( perimetrium )
func -
-secretions provides optimum conditions for developing embryo
- sperm transport
-contribute to placenta
- space for foetus develops
-parturition
-production of prostaglandin f2 alpha
whats a duplex uterus ?
has two cervix
What is the struc and func of oviduct ?
struc =
serosa
muscularis - two layers circular and longitudinal
submucosa
mucosa - cillia
-three regions - infundibulum , ampulla( more mucosa ) , ishmus ( more muscle )
func =
-where fertilisation takes place
- optimum environment for fertilisation
- help with sperm and egg transport
-secretions initiate sperm capacitation and early embryo development and fertilisation
struc and func of cervix
- has folds in horse loosely opposed, spiralling interlocking folds sow , interlocking folds in cow and sheep
keep uterus sterile - acts as barrier to the uterus and secretes mucous
Struc and func of vagina and vestibule ?
vagina ( cranial , caudal and vestibule )
copulation
parturition
micturition
what are the supporting ligaments of the female repro tract
broad ligament - split into mesosalphinx (support uterine tube and bursa like pouch surrounding ovary ) , mesovarium( b and lymph for ovary ) ,mesometrium (supports uterine horn and body )
round ligament - attaches to the tip of the uterine horn and goes through inguinal canal to attach to vagina to stop the tract inverting
suspensory ligament - attaches ovary to the abdominal wall to stabilise it
proper ligament - attaches ovary to uterine wall
vasculature of the female repro tract
internal illiac derrivatives - vaginal artery and the uterine artery
ovarian artery derives from the aorta
innervation of female repro tract
ovaries - sympathetic - mesenteric plexus
vagina , uterus , cervix - para and symp - pelvic plexus
