■ History: Penetrating injury, splint, and paronychia.
■ Findings:Pain,erythema,swelling,andabscess(Fig.32-18).
■ Distribution:Thumb and index nger.
■ Complications: Osteitis, osteomyelitis o distal phalanx, joint with septic arthritis; extension into distal
end o exor tendon sheath, and producing tenosynovitis.
