Resp Rate 15-35 inhalations per min
Heart Rate 180/200 beats per min
Body Temp 100.4-101 degrees F
Vitals for Adult Cat
Resp Rate 20-30 inhalations per min
Heart Rate 180 beats per min
Body Temp 101.5 degrees F
Bacteria can be treated with
Antibiotics
Puss is
White blood cells
Caused by penetrating wounds
High fever
Lethargy
Inappetence
Painful swellings
Abscess
TX: Lance abscess and drain ; give antibiotics
Does NOT cause clinical disease in cats
Disease of humans after a scratch or bite by a kitten
Fever
Muscle pain
nausea
Enlarged lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy)
Cat Scratch Disease
Most cases resolve Spontaneously
All cat scratches should be washed with antibacterial soap
Conjunctivitis (inflammation of tissue around the eye)
Transmitted nasally by air
Mild upper respiratory disease
Sneezing, nasal discharge
Chlamydial Infection
TX Topical and Oral tetracycline
Bubonic- Involves skin and lymph nodes; infesting rodents or being bitten by fleas
Pneumonic- Infection of the lungs ; inhalation or by spread via the bloodstream to the lungs
Reservoirs: Wild rodents, ground squirrels , prairie dogs, rabbits, bobcats, and coyotes
Endemic -In SW US
CS; FEver, depression, enlarged tonsils and lymph nodes
