What is Pica?
- Eating one or more nonnutritive, nonfood substances (paper, soap, cloth, hair) on a persistent basis over at least 1 month
- MINIMUM AGE OF 2 YEARS
What is Rumination Disorder?
- Repeated regurgitation of food occurring after feeding or eating over a period of at least 1 MONTH
- Occurs at least several times per week, typically daily
What is Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder?
- Avoidance or restriction of food intake
- Significant weight loss, significant nutritional deficiency, dependence on enteral feeding or oral nutritional supplements, or marked interference with psychosocial functioning
What are the two subtypes of Anorexia Nervosa?
- Restricting Type: Not engaged in recurrent episodes of purging behavior for the last 3 MONTHS
- Binge-eating/purging type: Has engaged in recurrent episodes of binge eating or purging behavior during the last 3 MONTHS
What is Anorexia Nervosa?
- persistent energy intake restrictions
- intense fear of gaining or weight or of becoming fat
- persistent behavior that interferes with weight gain
- disturbance in self-perceived weight or shape
What is the difference between Bulimia Nervosa and Anorexia Nervosa, binge-eating/purging type
Individuals with bulimia nervosa maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal level
What is the difference between Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and Anorexia Nervosa?
Individuals with avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder do not have a fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, nor do they have a disturbance in the way they experience their body shape and weight
What is Bulimia Nervosa?
- recurrent episodes of binge eating
- recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain
- self-evaluation that is unduly influenced by body shape and weight
- at least once a week in 3 months
what diagnosis do you give if all of the criteria for anorexia nervosa are met, except that despite significant weight loss, the individual’s weight is within or above the normal range
