Q

Positive feedback in water cycle:

A

-as temps increase, increase evaporation and the atmosphere holds more vapor, this causes greater cloud cover and more precipitation

-as water vapor is a greenhouse gas, more vapor in atmosphere increases absorption of long wave radiation causing temp to increase

Q

Negative feedback in water cycle:

A

More vapor created grater cloud cover which reflects more solar radiation into space, causes global temps to fall as less solar radiation are absorbed

Q

Positive feedback in the carbon cycle:

A
  • temp increases, increased decomposition, increase CO2, therefore warms atmosphere
  • temp increases, permafrost melts, exposed soils, increases decomposition, increases CO2

Q

Negative feedback in carbon cycle:

A
  • increases CO2 levels encourages photosynthesis, this converts CO2 into carbon sinks such as a forest, decreasing CO2 levels
