Feedback Flashcards
Types of feedback: Often associated with guidance for performers to learn and develop their skills.
Knowledge of performance - If a footballer scores a penalty, feedback may may reflect this
Knowledge of results - Coach may provide a spring-board diver with feedback with their somersault rotation
Continuous feedback - Your coach is constantly shouting instructions or guidance throughout the game.
Terminal feedback - Coach providing feedback as a debrief.
Types of feedback continued
Extrinsic feedback - Feedback from outside the performer - from a coach, tutor or teammate
Intrinsic feedback- Feedback from within the performer, often referred to as an internal response or feeling - asking the performer to give their own honest feedback on their performance.
Positive feedback- Feedback about a performance that concentrates on what was done successfully so the performer knows to repeat a similar process. - E.g. focusing on the correct technique used in the performance in a skill;
Negative feedback- Feedback about a performance that concentrates on what was done incorrectly so the performer knows not to repeat the process. E.g coach pointing out what you didn’t do well.
