What conditions require the Captain to notify ATC or an appropriate FAA radio facility?
The Capt must notify ATC when the following conditions occur:
- Unforecast severe weather is encountered, or severe weather forecast and not encountered.
- Icing conditions are encountered, or forecast icing conditions were not encountered.
- Any item of required (by regulation) communications or navigational equipment fails in flight.
- An engine fails or is shut down in flight.

- ETA (Block-in estimate).
- Fuel Load/Uplift required.
- Number of through jumpseaters.
