What was the dual authority?

A

Petrograd Soviet and Provisional Government both met in the same building and technically were both running the country

Who were the Provisional Government and how did they come to be?

A

They were chosen by the old Duma and made up of leading figures from the Kadets and other liberal parties. Led by Prince Lvov. They were meant to be a temporary arrangement until a constituent assembly was elected

Who were the Petrograd Soviet?

A

They were made up of workers, soldiers, socialist revolutionaries and Mensheviks. Their role was to protect the interests of the working class

A

The Prov Gov had mandate but no support, the Soviet had support but no mandate
