What is a font?

A

-Where the sacrament of baptism is celebrated. It is a stone basin filled with water, which Catholics believe washes away Original Sin.
-Through baptism, Catholics are welcomed into a new life in Jesus which is how they achieve salvation.
-“Baptism is necessary for salvation” - The Gospels.

What is an altar?

A

-Where the sacrament of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) is celebrated. The
altar shows the belief that Jesus’ died on the cross for human sin and to give people salvation.
-This is remembered through the sharing of bread and wine which represent the body and blood of Jesus in his crucifixion.
- “This is my body” - The Gospels.

A

-Catholics will visit church and be reminded of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for their sins.
-They will pray to God during Mass, thanking God for sending his Son so they can have a chance of salvation (to live forever with God).
