A
- Concerned with what we know to be true not what we believe to be true
2
Q
What are the 3 parts of the scientific method
A
- Observation and description of a phenomenon
- formulation of hypothesis to explain observation
- Performance of experimental tests of predictions
3
Q
What are the characteristics of a Science?
A
PORFECT!
- PARADIGM = school of thought or assumptions as to what type of paradigm (behavioural, cognitive, biological, psychodynamic)
- OBJECTIVITY = observations must be based on scientific methopds and not influenced by bias
- Standardisation of inscructions, operationalisation
- REPLICABILITY = Investivation can be replicated under same conditions, EV will effect results
- FALSIFIABILITY = Must have ability to be tested and proved wrong
- EMPIRICISM = Based on sensory expriences through dirrect observation
- Making predictinos tested by scientific methods
- CONTROL = Observe IV effect on the DV controlling any EV
- THEORY = Consrtuct any theories that come of the experiment and note all factors that may have had an effect
