Glass Steagall Act

Resettlement Administration
- provided loans to small farmers to buy land
- replaced by the Farm Security Administration (FSA)
- FSA hired photographers to spread awareness
Works Progress Administration (WPA)
created as many jobs as possible as quickly as possible
National Youth Administration (NYA)
- created to provide education, jobs, counseling, and recreation for young people
- provided aid for students in exchange that they work part time in schools
Wagner Act
- prohibited unfair labor practices
- set up NLRB which settles disputes between employers and unions

- insurance for retirees 65 or older and their spouses
- unemployment compensation system
- aid to families with children and the disabled
Frances Perkins

- head of the Division of Negro Affairs of the NYA
- helped organize a “Black Cabinet” to advise the administration on racial issues
Marian Anderson
- was chosen by Eleanor Roosevelt to sing at an event
- when rejected, Roosevelt resigned from the organization

- commissioner of Indian affairs
- helped create the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934
